T3 Tire App is a mobile application focused on tire inventory and tire limit enforcement for race tracks and racing series. Why was an app needed for tires? Who really needs this? The simplest answer to these questions is anyone who wants to have local race tracks around now and in the future.
It is estimated there are 900+ short tracks, dirt or paved ovals measuring less than a mile in length, throughout the country. These tracks are struggling to keep the gates open. The drivers, the team, the car owners work tirelessly for that checkered flag to the enjoyment of thousands of fans. However, the cost to have a competitive advantage has forced hundreds of drivers, teams and car owners to leave the sport. Some tracks struggle to get more than 5-6 cars to show up in some classes for their weekly shows. What can be done to save this sport? This exact question is what inspired the creation of T3 Tire App.
Meet the person with the vision for T3 Tire App. Buddy Head a race car driver for 31 years and an unmatched passion for his family tradition of short track racing had the vision. Knowing that something has to happen to reduce the costs to keep the racers on the track, Buddy talked with dozens of race tracks and multiple tire manufacturers about setting tire limits to reduce cost for the race teams. The track promoters agreed but adding another thing for a tech to do with employee shortages was just not something that was possible. Buddy then turned to someone that he knew could help bring the vision to life.
Meet the creator of T3 Tire App. Aaron Suzanne Head, Buddy’s wife and a 23 year IT professional with a background in software development. She was the perfect partner for this endeavor. Aaron worked with Buddy, multiple tire manufacturers, and several track owners from all over the country to define and build a mobile application that tracks could have in a tech’s back pocket that would enforce tire limits. The application needed to be easy to use and quickly scan tire bar codes with little to no disruption to the speed of racing program. After having the application in use by a few tracks in the 2022 season and using their feedback and even more talks with more tracks in the off season, T3 Tire App has been purchased by many tracks from North Carolina to Washington state for the 2023 season. In addition, two NASCAR racing series, Whelen Modified Tour and Pinty’s have also purchased the program to enforce tire limits in their series.
What started with a thought on how to make racers not outspend each other to the detriment of the whole sport has grown into an easy-to-use mobile application for race tracks and racing series. The goal is simple, to save short-track racing. So who really needs this, we all do.
